You Won’t Believe That This Incredibly Sleek Italian Hypercar Actually Runs On Plastic Waste

Car Scoop

If you thought Ferraris, Maseratis, and Bugattis were the only Italian sports cars worth mentioning, another Italian motor company just recently released its supercar that amazingly, actually runs on waste.

While most supercars are known for pushing petal to the metal and not caring about the way they affect the environment, Bertone has chosen to go another way. They decided to customize this specialized limited edition GB110 hypercar precisely to run on fuel made from plastic waste to commemorate their 110th birthday, which in all honesty, is pretty incredible.

The Bertone cars are normally known for their iconic “Italian Wedge” design, which are normally seen on the Lamborghini Countach. And the new GB110, which is a limited edition run of just 33 vehicles, is not anything different when it comes to incredible looks and design, the main difference is what actually fuels the vehicle.

Moreover, on the Bertone website, it explains, ‘Engineered to life with impeccable quality, the Bertone GB110 is uniquely positioned within Bertone’s 100-year history of crafting exceptional cars. While designed for high performance, it maintains the captivating detail and art-inspired emotion of a collector’s piece. Paying homage to pioneering Bertone designs from the 50s and 70s, the GB110 is sculpted for a timelessly standout presence.’

So far, the company has yet to release a price for the car, however they say that it will be “akin to a piece of art,” which will also give potential clients the ability to choose a particular number of modifications to the car to best suit their “unique tastes and identity.”

According to the CEO of Bertone, Jean-Franck Ricci, he said that they “have partnered with the company Select Fuel which has developed a patented technology to convert polycarbonate materials into renewable fuel.”

He added, “We believe that de-pollution will require different solutions with combinations of technologies. Plastic waste needs to be treated as a valuable resource. Through our partnership with Select Fuel we take what was once waste and convert it back into its original form.”

The GB110 has intense power and ability, with 1,100 horsepower and the ability to go from 0 to 60 miles per hour (mph) in just 2.79 seconds, while its maximum speed is said to be over 236 miles per hour.

Select Fuel explained in a statement, “We recognize that plastic waste is a major environmental problem. We have committed to developing technologies that convert polycarbonate materials into renewable and sustainable fuels.”

They added, “Our fuels are used in everything from the transportation industry and renewable aviation fuel to motorsport and high-end sports cars including the Bertone GB110.”
