For the past 150 consecutive summers, this secretive California camp has held private gatherings with very powerful people. Past presidents who attended include Richard Nixon and Herbert Hoover.

It is said that private meetings at this retreat were directly responsible for the Manhattan project – you know, the one that led to the development of the atomic bomb. In addition, women are not allowed.

You are not allowed to visit the Ise Grand Shrine, which is an ancient Shinto shrine dedicated to the goddess Amaterasu. Reportedly, it contains a holy artifact known as the Sacred Mirror which represents “wisdom” or “honesty”. Though the artifact has been stolen, burnt, lost, and even thrown into the sea over the years, it has always been recovered.

The shrine has been in existence since 4BC, and only priests and priestesses of the royal family are allowed in.

Mount Weather is the real version of the “doomsday” bunker movies always show the President escaping to in the case of a disaster. If a zombie apocalypse breaks out, if Yellowstone national park explodes, or if WW3 really does happen, don’t plan on taking refuge there.

Located 48 miles outside of Washington DC in the Blue Ridge Mountains, little is known about the place except what was obtained from a TIME magazine interview with one of its retired engineers.

Although conspiracy theorists say differently, the Vatican Secret Archives are off-limits to the public because they rely on incredibly old-fashioned technology.

Reportedly, one can’t entire the archives, but they can view any document that is older than 75 years. Good luck finding your way around, however; it is said that there are more than 50 miles of shelving!
