Ten Most Wanted List

Despite knowing the name of Rodney Alcala, whom police had added to their roster of America’s Ten Most Wanted list, he was still able to live under his alias and do unspeakable crimes. But finally in 1971, two kids from the camp that he was working for had recognized him and reported him to the police. It almost felt like retribution for the crimes that he had already committed. But it wasn’t going to be the last time that he was going to be wanted by the police.

Extradited To California

By this time, authorities decided to take Alcala back to California to answer for the one crime they knew about against Tali Shapiro, despite the fact that he had gone on and committed many more without their knowledge. Unfortunately, Tali Shapiro’s family refused to allow her to testify against him in court, and rather than him get slapped with the conviction he deserved, he was only served with an assault charge and was eventually paroled after only serving 17-months in jail.
