Many want to know if the events leading up to Elaine’s decision to leave and take her children with her was truly warranted. While Russell claims that the day he hit her was the first time ever, others claim that Elaine was fearful of Russell all the time. Her friend, Christine Reiff, even said, “I don’t know when or if, but I know she had to get away. She was afraid of Russ. She thought he might really hurt her.”
