27. Department Heads Aren’t Always the Best in Their Fields
Being the head of a particular department does not always mean that a doctor is the best in that field. More often than not, department heads are quite the opposite, not because they are the worst but because they don’t get to see patients as often as we think.
Perhaps during their earlier days, these doctors were at the top of their game, but taking on the task of heading a service means that they spend less time seeing patients and concentrate more on paperwork and administrative functions.
