Will Quigg, a Grand Dragon for the KKK’s California chapter and responsible for recruitment in the western United States, says he is officially backing Hillary Clinton because she has a “hidden agenda” that he and other Klan members agree with.
Though former-Grand Dragon David Duke was recently reported as endorsing Donald Trump, which the Republican front-runner hesitantly disavowed, Quigg says that “we have nothing to do with David Duke.” Quigg formerly endorsed Donald Trump, tweeting back in September 2015 that “You Sir are the only hope we have of getting WHITE AMERICA BACK! WE all will be voting for you! CHURCH OF INVISABLE EMPIRE,” but has since explained that that was before he knew of Clinton’s “main agenda”
The KKK leader told The Telegraph, “We want Hillary Clinton to win. She is telling everybody one thing, but she has a hidden agenda. She’s telling everybody what they want to hear so she can get elected, because she’s Bill Clinton’s wife, she’s close to the Bushes. [But] once she’s in the presidency, she’s going to come out and her true colors are going to show.” He also goes on to be more specific about what he thinks Hillary would do, if elected. “Border policies are going to be put in place. Our second amendment rights [favoring gun ownership] that she’s saying she’s against now, she’s not against. She’s just our choice for the presidency.”
Despite his fervent claims that he and other Klansmen are in favor of Clinton winning, some are skeptical that Quigg no longer supports Trump. In addition to the tweet from last year, he doesn’t have a solid explanation for why he has nullified his Trump endorsement. When asked, Quigg replied, “We don’t like his hair. We think it’s a toupee. He won’t do what he says he will do. He says he’s going to build a 20-foot high fence along with border with Mexico and make them pay. How’s he going to do that?” Not that many are expecting an educated response from a KKK leader, but these reasons seem shallow and unconvincing to some. The Telegraph points out that the shift in their endorsement seems to have some questionable timing; after Trump’s fumble with distancing himself from David Duke’s endorsement, Quigg might have wanted the negative attention away from Trump so that he doesn’t lose voters.
Though there are skeptics to Quigg’s new endorsement, Clinton’s track record and ties to dubious people speaks volumes about her as a politician and an approval from the KKK doesn’t seem too far off-base. Clinton’s campaign has been riddled with lies and half-truths, with one of her more recent statements that questioned where Senator Sanders was when she was advocating for single-payer healthcare in the 90’s coming under fire. Social media found video footage that showed Sanders standing right behind Clinton as she spoke about her plans for universal healthcare, and she even thanked Sanders by name for supporting her.
On top of Clinton being called out constantly for her lies and exaggerations, the presidential candidate is also regularly criticized for her ties to groups and leaders that represent ideals that go against the Democratic party. She has received immense campaign donations from the weapons industry and has close ties to gun lobbyists, despite her claim that she is anti-gun and in favor of gun control. With her continuous change in views to appeal to voters paired with her suspicious connections, Quigg’s claim that she has a “hidden” agenda doesn’t seem so crazy.
Quigg, who was involved in the recent violence that ensued in Anaheim during a KKK rally, refuses to reveal the sources that gave him insight into Clinton’s alleged agenda, and adds that “It’s my opinion – if you know what I mean, wink, wink. I don’t want her to come back and say I’m slandering her.”
