The 29-year-old nurse, Sonny Melton, had been watching the concert with his barely new wife when Paddock began shooting into the crowd. He and his wife, who had come from Tennessee, were there to enjoy their time in Vegas listening to music during the 3-day festival. Upon hearing the gunshots and seeing people scrambling for their lives when the gunman started his unimaginable reign of terror, it was shared that Melton used his own body to protect his wife, unfortunately getting fatally shot in the back.
