In Her Own Little Ways…

It was as early as 1939 during the German invasion of Warsaw when Irena began helping the Jews by first offering them whatever she could provide. She gave them food and shelter, essentials which were mostly taken away from them by the Nazis.

Humanity first

Although raised a devout Catholic, Irena placed humanity first when she extended help to the Jews. Religion was out of the question when she provided comfort for their appalling condition.

With help from others, she came up with more than 3,000 false identities to smuggle Jewish families out of the Ghetto.
