According to Special Agent Abrahams, after fully going through all the information he was able to obtain on the ruthless Yakovlev after all these years, he felt that he had a particular modus that he would follow. Abrahams claims that he believes that Yakovlev’s method was to ‘kill someone, and steal their identity, every two years.’ He also thinks that if Yakovlev had never been caught, then he would have continued to do this time and time again.

After everything, Julie Yakovlev, who was 36 at the time, was sentenced to 3 years in a federal prison. She pleaded guilty to charges of identity theft, credit card and bank fraud. She and Dmitriy had two young children, so for their sakes, they would only lose one parent to a lengthy jail time, while their mother would be released after a few years.
