Through the help of her trauma therapist, Dr. Evelyn Laine, she explains, “But trying to tell this story when, for a lot of my life, I was only around for a fraction of a day at a time, has been hard. It was Dr. Laine who told me about a woman called Hayley and another called Bonny, two personalities that had previously been dominant and whom she’d met in therapy sessions. She continues, “I recognized both names instantly. I’d seen letters addressed to both at my house, and had wondered who they were. She also helped me to face up to another truth — that Aimee was my own daughter,” all explained while under the new head persona, Patricia.

Art Therapy Became The Answer

It was during one particular therapy session in 2005 with another therapist named Debbie McCoy, recommended Kim try painting. It was meant to help her relax, but less than 6 months later, it becomes blindingly apparent that Kim was telling a story through her art, and from the minds of a multiple number of her altars. Debbie proposed that Kim become more serious with her work, as Kim shares, “She took me out to buy some paints and a canvass and we decided I would try and do it properly instead of just doodling.” It was an amazing 10 months after that Kim would be recognized for her amazing art, painting in as many as 13 different personalities.
