8. Don’t Forget to Mind Your Manners

People in Guatemala are very particular with manners, especially since they themselves are very polite and respectful in the way they interact with others. While good etiquette seems to have taken a back seat here in the US, it remains strongly rooted with the people of Guatemala, especially if it involves their privacy.

While taking snapshots to document your trip is only natural, please be considerate enough to ask permission before taking photos, especially if your subject happens to be a local. Many still believe that photographs trap the souls of those whose pictures are taken, so be respectful and always ask before clicking on the shutter.
