It turned out that Julian Harvey planned on murdering Dene, his wife of barely four months, so he could take out insurance money from her death. He may have been preparing to throw her body overboard when Arthur Duperrault spotted him and tried to stop him. Perhaps this was what led to the murder of the rest of the Duperrault family.
