David may have enjoyed being a millionaire, but he regretted never having been there to fight for Tiffani during that custody battle in Florida. It also seemed as if there would be no regrets between father and daughter as he apologized for everything that happened, and from there on out, David only wanted one thing. Being poor he could live with, but dying alone was the one thing he feared the most- and wistfully, die alone he did. Tiffani visited him the day before, but when the moment came for him to pass, no one was there to hold his hand. Not only died alone but sadly, it seems Tiffani would be the only one who would remember him fondly as a kind man.

A Leopard Cannot Change His Spots

David died owing his friends thousands of dollars. Even his father’s friend, Vernon Holbrook, said that David borrowed six to seven thousand dollars from him after his lottery win, and does not pity him, saying “You can’t really feel too sorry for somebody that blows millions of dollars.” He died poor and in debt, in the same situation that he would have been if he had not won the lottery at all. Few people came to his funeral, but at the very least, it was a quiet death for an otherwise troublesome life, and hopefully, David was now at peace, leaving Tiffani to pick up the pieces one last time.
