Despite the danger

And so the men decided to continue on. They came across the portion of the mines that were flooded with murky, stagnant, bacteria-ridden waters. Passageways either diverged or were blocked by collapsed structural support, and the puke-colored water only added to the danger. They had to take note of their route, else they could get stuck in the mines without the rest of the world knowing how to find them.

Water, water, everywhere

Many of the shafts they entered were flooded with natural springs as well, creating a scene that one could liken to a scene in a horror movie. Light was unable to enter the area, and colorless algae was abundant everywhere.
