Finally, A Breakthrough

In 2013, Parkhurst finally confessed to the hit and run when a police officer had come back to question him in the events that had occurred on the night of Carolee’s death after someone had made a comment on Facebook so many years later. Despite the young girl’s mom continuously trying to get answers to what had happened to the person who had killed her daughter, it took over 44 years to finally get her answer.

Admitting To The Crime

Parkhurst would end up writing a 4-page confession about what had happened that evening when he hit Carolee that night. He had said he consumed around 3 beers, while his brother was passed out at the back of his car. He had written, “While I drove through the city of Fulton, I heard a thud. It sounded like I hit a dog. I don’t know where I hit that thing. I don’t remember seeing any kids but I believe in my heart I hit the little Ashby girl with my car.”
