Due to the amount of pressure that airplanes endure when they’re way above the clouds in the highest of altitudes, these tiny holes in the windows come in very handy. Known as the ‘bleed holes,’ they are what keep the passengers and the outside atmosphere from basically coming face to face. There are 3 separate planes of glass, one at the very outside of the plane which is what is touched by the outside elements. Then there’s the one in the middle with the bleed hole, which is what help with the air pressure inside the cabin. And the last one is inner pane, which is the one passengers can touch. The bleed hole allows the pressure to not cause too much of an issue inside the cabin while the aircraft moves up into the clouds.
