A monumental task
The cleanup project was a monumental task. It involved heavy machinery and a large manpower, costing about 9.5 million euros. It was a cost the people of Paris were more than willing to shell out for a project which was a long time coming.
Everything must go
It took a while to lower the water’s level. As it went down, a huge amount of different kinds of fish was uncovered. Workers had to remove by hand 4.5 tons of bream, carp, and trout and transported them to the River Seine.
