According to George’s wife, Penny, when he didn’t’ show up at the usual time that day, she decided to go in search of him. She searched the encampment, even reaching the spot of the brutal attack, but when she didn’t see anything, she decided she needed to look elsewhere. Then that’s when she heard someone moaning.

She Heard Someone’s Voice

Just as Penny was getting ready to go, she heard someone moaning from beneath a plank. When she went over to see who could be making such a heart-wrenching noise, she lifted the plank of wood and noticed that it was her beloved George lying there, nearly unconscious.
