James was tried in court and ‘found guilty of 45 counts of technical burglary and sentenced to 45 years in jail.’ Lucky for him, his life would take another quick turn and he would get a sympathetic judge who saw a young 14-year old frightened boy with a lot of potential. Despite a 45-year sentence, he would only serve 1 year in juvenile detention.

Taking Pity On Him

James explains how he was able to get out of his sentencing. “After being in for almost a year, the judge agreed to suspend my sentence if I didn’t commit another crime and I agreed to join the military when I was eligible. I think what he saw was an intelligent kid who needed discipline.”
