On the evening of April 11, 1981, Sue was in her home at Cabin 28, while two of her older children were out with friends. The younger ones were home with her, along with one of their friends. Johnny, her eldest son, was said to be out with his friends in Quincy, which was approximately 7 miles away. Her second child, Sheila, was off to spend the night at neighboring cabin number 27, where her friend had lived.
