Dead end

A word about Mike’s death immediately reached Julie. She called Deputy Leach right away, and when he heard what had happened, he was stunned. His prime suspect was gone. It seemed as though they had reached a dead end, but Sheriff Nestor and Deputy Leach weren’t ready to throw in the towel yet. They were still determined to get to the bottom of the case for the sake of Tanner.

In search of the smoking gun

Leach called Mike’s third wife to know more about Mike’s properties and learned that his estate had already been under the control of a Colorado Springs bank. He then called the bank’s administrator to ask if they still had Mike’s gun. The woman on the other end of the line confirmed that they had all of Mike’s guns.
