When 9 hikers decided to trek up a snowy mountain one cold January day, they never could have known the fate they were about to face. They were said to be a happy, lively group led by an experienced hiker, but the weather was uncooperative. When they failed to send word that they got back to their expected location, a search party went out to look for them, and found them all dead in the snow… What’s worse is that no one ever found out what exactly killed the group of hikers, or what really happened at all.

Death Valley
Kholat Syakhl is located in the Ural range of mountains in Russia, and its also known as “Death Valley.” Translated from the Mansi Tribes who are local to that region, it actually means “Mountain of the Dead.” And part of the reason why it was given such a sinister name was because the Mansi Tribes said there was no game, since there were hardly any animals for them to kill for food in that area. Therefore, it was considered ‘dead.’
