The shipwreck was spotted while Namdeb was clearing and draining a stretch of the seabed. They were building an earthen wall to keep the water out as geologists were doing their job. According to Dr. Noli, one of the geologists found several ingots, but they weren’t certain what they were. They also found what they thought could be cannon barrels.
