Chinese Hourglass Spider
This unbelievably rare arachnid is known as a Chinese Hourglass Spider. It was supposedly discovered as early as 2 BC, but had only ever been seen by the naked eye a number of 6 times, that was until it was rediscovered in the year 2000. This particular spider keeps its nest underground and uses the environment for its own benefit, hiding away so that it can prey on its next meal. It’s definitely unique amongst other 8-legged cousins.
