This young couple decided to celebrate her birthday with a weekend away at an Airbnb, and a hike in Joshua Tree National Park. But when they never checked out of their room, the owner began to worry and contacted the authorities about their disappearance. When they were found in the park months later, they were both dead and said to be in an embrace in what seemed to be an apparent double suicide.

Rachel Nguyen from Westminster and Joseph Orbeso from Lakewood, were set to go on a trip to celebrate Rachel’s 20th birthday. They were originally meant to be a bigger group of people going, but the others couldn’t make it, so the two decided to continue with their plans.
