Recalling How He Went Bad
Collins shared what happened to him as an officer, and how he slowly went ‘bad.’ He says, “I don’t remember the first instance of doing something wrong, but I remember thinking of it as bending the rules instead of breaking the rules. By the end of my career, I was stealing money from citizens, I was stealing money from the city of Benton Harbor, I was lying on search warrants and on reports – things that I would have thought I never would have done four years earlier when I first became a police officer.”
