Elisa Lam’s story was one of the most disturbing events that ever happened at the Cecil Hotel. It’s perhaps also the most widely covered, thanks to the emergence of social media.

She traveled alone from Canada and checked into the hotel on January 26, 2013. She took a shared room, but her roommates complained that Elisa exhibited some odd behavior. So, she was asked to move to a solo room.
