Gary had been successfully panhandling for the last 4 years. And not only that, he had been able to receive almost $25,000 in supplemental security income benefits from the government, as well as over $80,000 from Medicaid benefits, both due to his supposed ‘mental illness.’

Going To Jail

Gary would end up serving time in jail on a two-year three-month sentence for his crimes, but that was not all. He also had to serve a 14-month sentence ‘for passing a bad check in Barren County and seven months for assaulting a corrections employee in Shelby County.’ He was also asked to pay back over $106,000 for the money he had gotten from the government all under the pretense that he was mentally handicapped.
