Jogger Found Lifeless In Secluded Park. Months Later, A Case of Pure Luck Helped Cops Figure Out The Truth

The Last Time She’d Be Seen Alive

Before heading out for her run, Karina’s father had even reminded her not to go too far into the area they usually ran where it was a bit more secluded. He was, just like any father would be, concerned for her safety. Before leaving she had even said to him, “It’s OK, Daddy. I’ll be all right.” He had told The New York Post that he felt something was wrong when Karina didn’t come back at her usual time after her run.

Spring Creek Park

Karina’s usual jogging trail was situated in an area known to the locals called the “Weeds.” When she didn’t return from her jog, Mr. Vetrano decided to get in touch with one of his neighbors, who was an NYPD Police Officer. They were able to track her cellphone, which would eventually lead them to her whereabouts.
