After further investigation, it was reported that Karina was brutally attacked, but according to NYPD Chief of Detectives Robert Boyce, she had definitely put up a “ferocious fight.” She even had a bunch of weeds bunched up in one of her hands. They also found other items in the surrounding areas like a used condom, one of her shoes and an ear bud.

As quickly as her body was found, an investigation began trying to figure out who could have done something so horrible. While scouring through footage of nearby CCTV’s in the area, a video of Karina jogging through her usual path was found and this would seemingly be just moments before her awful assault.
