Turning Eighteen

When Carsten turned 18, he realized that he needed to make a change in his life. Becoming a professional skate photographer was just not taking off in the way he had hoped, so he decided to try to do something else. Someone had suggested that he photograph weddings. Little did he know that it was going to be the key to something much more brilliant.

Suggesting Weddings

Carsten shares, “Growing up everyone around me always said, ‘You’re a photographer? You should photograph weddings!’ and I always kind of laughed at the idea. I mean, here I was, a 15 or 16-year old guy who spent his free time skateboarding, getting escorted off schoolyards by security, and they wanted me to photograph weddings? I was probably the least qualified person ever to photograph a wedding.”
