2:30 p.m. came and went with still no sign of Kara anywhere. Her parents originally believed that maybe she went straight to her job at 4 p.m. When she never showed up for work, her mom and stepdad knew that something was very wrong. Her mom Rhonda, and stepdad Jim kept trying to call Kara’s cell phone, but to no avail. It would appear that her phone had no power so they assumed that her battery was dead. They finally called the police and reported Kara missing. After hearing the events of Kara’s case, the police had presumed that she was just a ‘runaway,’ as she had a past for disappearing before. But for Rhonda, she explained, “We had not argued. She had no reason not to come home… We had normal teenager parent conflicts, but we were always able to talk it out.”
