Even though Kara had made hometown news, her story wasn’t garnering enough attention from the media. Her parents knew that unless more people heard about her story, the fewer tips they would get regarding her case. They even personally went door-to-door, handing out fliers and photos of Kara, praying that someone out there may have seen her.

Then on May 17, 3 separate people said they had seen Kara in Louisburg, Kansas with an unknown man. All three witnesses claimed that she was at a Burger King in the area. Sadly for Kara’s family, the woman who they thought Kara, was someone who had been mistaken for her already before. She actually worked near the Louisburg area and was said to most probably have been in that area during the sightings.
