Visible signs.

Since melanoma often looks like an abnormal mole, it is easier to notice before the cancer spreads. It may also appear as a sore or itchy bump, or a patch of skin that is scaly or bleeding. Once it has spread it is known as metastatic melanoma. Signs of spreading at this stage will depend on where it has spread.
