Knowing If It Is Melanoma.

Asymmetry – the mole has an irregular looking shape as compared to normal circular ones.
Border – the edges are not smooth but notched or irregular.
Color – the mole has uneven shades or dark spots.
Diameter – the spot has grown larger than the size of a pencil eraser.
Elevation or Evolving – the spot is changing in size, shape, and texture.

Always have a doctor examine the spot or mole to be certain.
