29. Shortness of Breath (Thyroid Mass)
Thyroid masses may also cause shortness of breath and difficulty breathing. Because of its location on the base of the neck, a growing thyroid mass can press-down on the windpipe, causing a narrowing of the canal. Because of this, the flow of air into and out of the lungs becomes affected, making it difficult for a patient to breathe.
