8. Thinning of the Skin (Hyperthyroidism)

Thyroid hormone also plays an important role in the maintenance of the outer layer of the skin: the epidermis. Too much secretion of thyroid hormone by a hyperactive thyroid causes what is called thyrotoxic epidermis, a condition wherein the skin appears to be thinner than normal.
