5. Intolerance to Heat (Hyperthyroidism)
The hormone thyroxine, produced and secreted by the thyroid, is responsible for regulating the body’s normal metabolism. Over-activity of the thyroid causes an excess amount of thyroxine to be released into the system, increasing the body’s metabolism, thereby increasing internal body temperature. When this happens a patient suddenly feels extremely uncomfortable and highly sensitive to heat, another tell-tale sign of hyperthyroidism.
