When Manson was booked, his name was stated as “Manson, Charles M. aka Jesus Christ, God.” When the trial started, Manson and the most flagrant of the group were the three Manson girls, Atkins, Van Houten and Krenwinkel. Upon appearing in court, Manson reportedly carved an X into his forehead saying, “I have Xed myself from the world. No man or lawyer is speaking for me.” And his three most loyal followers followed suit.
