Gary Stokes
Gary Stokes, who is now the Director of the South East Asian Portio of the Sea Shepherd group, originally worked in Hong Kong as a bartender in the early 1990’s. But before he became a connoisseur of drinks, he was first part of the Royal Navy, and he loved the ocean. He also taught scuba diving and practiced photography. After he had a close-up encounter with a humpback whale and her calf, he ended up being a major ocean conservationist. So in 2010, he decided to leave his bartending job and join the Sea Shepherd organization. He didn’t realize at the time that he would one day become the director for the Asian sector of the well-known environmental group.
