Although there was a temporary scare in 2016 due to water damage to the vault, by 2018, the vault boasted of around one million samples of seeds from all over the world. Should there ever be a zombie apocalypse, or if global warming somehow ends the world as we know it – which is much more possible – this will help survivors start afresh.
