When in France, tourists should never assume that food order can be separated into component parts. It is common in some countries to be able to ask for a meal without certain ingredients or to have the sauce or dressing on the side. This is uncommon in France and tourists might encounter some resistance. To them, they have worked very hard to create a perfect blend of ingredients for each dish that they think is wonderful. So, better to just enjoy the dining experience.
