(Tip 1) Insensitive remarks
Try not to express opinions about politics, religion and other sensitive topics. As a tourist, it makes sense to stay clear from issues especially if you are not exactly well versed with the subject matter at hand. It is rare for the French to advertise their religious beliefs and as common courtesy, you are expected to do the same. It is best to talk about sports, fashion, or anything that would pique the interest sans the dangers of leading the conversation to a level of awkwardness.
