In business or when meeting friends for coffee, French people will be on time. However, parties are a different story particularly in the south of France. If someone says a party starts at 8 PM, it is likely that you might be the only one present when you come on the allotted time. To be on the safe side, get there a little afterwards. In France, being late at parties is fashionable.
