In the initial trial, Ferreira pleads not guilty to the charge of second-degree murder, despite his telling confession. Through mediation and with consideration to the statute of limitations and evidence, both Ferreira and the Tousignant family agreed to amend the charges on the condition that Ferreira pleads guilt. He was instead charged with second-degree sexual assault/use of force and false imprisonment.
“I just want this over and done with,” Ferreria said.
