Carrie Ann was still wearing the same thing that she had on the day she disappeared, a coat and high-top sneakers, leading Carolyn and investigators to believe that she died the same day she went missing. However, due to the decomposition of the body, it was initially difficult to determine the exact cause of death. This would not be discovered until many decades later.
