Giant Sea Spider

The Giant Sea Spider was one of the most recently discovered species of creatures found in southern Antartica. It was found in early 2008. This arachnid is about 9.8 inches long and preys on hydroids and bryzoans. Researchers hypothesize that the lack of predators, cold temperatures, and high levels of oxygen in their natural habitat are responsible the giant sea spider’s colossal size.
