David and Shawna resorted to selling everything they had, but it all seemed to be a lost cause. What they got they just spent. Their former adviser James started lending them money and selling his own things to help them, but it was hopeless. Once they even spent the $20,000 that he gave them in just four days. They had become a nuisance to their neighbors, borrowing phones and asking money from them. And if they were hard to look at outside the warehouse, they were an even worse sight inside it.
