David died owing his friends thousands of dollars. Even his father’s friend, Vernon Holbrook, said that David borrowed six to seven thousand dollars from him after his lottery win, and does not pity him, saying “You can’t really feel too sorry for somebody that blows millions of dollars.” He died poor and in debt, in the same situation that he would have been if he had not won the lottery at all. Few people came to his funeral, but at the very least, it was a quiet death for an otherwise troublesome life, and hopefully, David was now at peace, leaving Tiffani to pick up the pieces one last time.
