The signature aspect of the killer

Special Agent Young recounted how he was able to connect the Illinois case with photographs recovered from Rhoades’ apartment: “I studied the crime scene photos – she’d been strangled with bailing wire that was attached to a wooden beam. The wire had been twisted many times beyond the point needed for death. Her hair was very short, and the forensic report told me something invaluable: Her pubic hair had been shaved prior to death. This was the signature aspect of the killer I would be looking for.”

The father’s painful confirmation

Young thought that the girl in the photos recovered in Rhoades’ apartment eerily resembled Regina Walters. But because she had long hair in the photo, he was not exactly sure. He then showed the photograph to Regina’s father who painfully confirmed that it was her. Three birthmarks on the girl’s neck matched Regina’s.
